Driving Out Hunger One Mile at a Time
Since 2004, our volunteer army of drivers have been picking up surplus food from restaurants, grocery stores, corporate dining halls, farmers markets and schools and delivering it to the front-line agencies that feed the hungry every day in the Metro Atlanta area.
90 Minutes of Your Time
90 minutes a month. That’s how long it takes to pick-up and deliver a carload of nutritious food to those in need. Make a difference.
Donate Excess Food
Does your organization have surplus or unmarketable food? Convert your extra food into donations for those in need.
Your contribution helps increase the impact we have in our community by providing much needed food to those that need it most.
Current 2018 Results
In the first 9 months of 2018, our Volunteers rescued 1,233,641 pounds of fresh, perishable food for hungry people in Atlanta.
The one impact I would say is the greatest is the nutritional content of the food we give our clients today versus what we gave before Second Helpings Atlanta existed. The quality of the food delivered by SHA means fresh produce, dairy, meat, and prepared foods from premier organic markets.
