Assists Second Helpings Atlanta with Feeding the Hungry
In September, McCarthy Building Companies’ Southeast Division assisted Second Helpings Atlanta in feeding the hungry in Metro Atlanta by packing nearly 25,000 meals.
In partnership with The Pack Shack, McCarthy’s Heart Hats community outreach program brought together 145 McCarthy employees to pack meals for Second Helpings Atlanta. The cheesy rice and vegetable meals will be delivered to North Fulton community resource centers, including Community Assistance Center, North Fulton Community Charities, Toco Hills Community Alliance and Malachi’s Storehouse.
“McCarthy has always been personally invested in the communities where we live, work and build for our clients,” said Kevin Kuntz, McCarthy Southeast Division president. “Our employees believe in making a noticeable impact, whether through the projects we bring to life or the charitable organizations we support, such as Second Helpings Atlanta. Our Heart Hats program is a cornerstone of our business, not just in Atlanta, but in all of the communities in which we operate around the country.”
The food packing event was coordinated with The Pack Shack, a non-profit that organizes meal packing all over the country. The meals were picked up by Second Helpings Atlanta, a nonprofit organization that delivers fresh, perishable food free of charge to those in need.
“Second Helpings Atlanta delivers 1.5 million pounds of food annually to those in need,” said Carlos Diaz, Operations Manager at Second Helpings Atlanta. “These meals packed by McCarthy will serve people in critical need across Metro Atlanta’s populous northern suburbs. This wouldn’t be possible without volunteered time from great partners like McCarthy Building Companies.”
