Editor’s Note: David Schoenberg, a past President of Second Helpings Atlanta, lead a group of Second Helpings Atlanta walkers at the Atlanta Community Food Bank Hunger Walk/Run at on March 5th, 2017. It was a terrific event. Below is David’s original post about the event.
On Sunday, March 5, 2017, thousands of people will come together to raise awareness and funds to help fight hunger in Atlanta at the annual Atlanta Community Food Bank Hunger Walk/Run. For the first time, a Second Helpings Atlanta (SHA) team will be walking and we need your support!
Many of you have participated in the past with other organizations. We encourage you to continue walking with them. If you haven’t participated before and are looking for a team, however, we’d love to have you! SHA walkers and runners will receive a cool t-shirt; you’ll also have a chance to walk and mingle with our amazing community of Volunteers and Donors.
When you sign up on the website to join our team, you’ll receive information about where to meet on Sunday, March 5. The Walk/Run starts promptly at 1PM, so please arrive at least a half hour early.
If you can walk with us, or if you can’t, we hope you’ll help us reach our team fundraising goal by making a donation on behalf of the team or a specific team member. The event is one of the most important hunger relief efforts of the year.
- Let’s walk to make sure children in our community don’t go to bed hungry.
- Let’s walk to offer hope to parents struggling to make ends meet.
- Let’s walk to ensure that our seniors aren’t forced to choose between medicine or food.
Thank you for your support.
